Talks have intensified in light of the Dec. 20 expiration of sweeping US sanctions on Syria and Israel’s ongoing campaign targeting Iranian-backed networks in the region.

Despite the recent murder of Chabad emissary Rabbi Zvi Kogan in the UAE, the emirate’s Jews and leadership still believe in the possibility of a thriving Jewish community amid coexistence.

Kogan became a known member of the Jewish community in the UAE, for example, delivering challah to families on Shabbat and helping operate the kosher supermarket.

The absence of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, a Chabad emissary from the UAE who was murdered last week, was deeply felt. 

Dermer has been working to advance a post-war plan for Gaza to be implemented in recent months.

Now that Damascus has lost Aleppo, it is clear the regime is not stable. However, the regime will need all the help it can get from Iraq and the Gulf, as well as its allies in Iran and Russia. 

Despite growing pressures – particularly from Iran and in the context of Israel’s ongoing war – the UAE has maintained its relationship with Israel.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, a senior member of the UAE, visited the shiva of Rabbi Zvi Kogan to offer his condolences to the grieving family personally.

Kogan lived as an exemplary Jew. He was a valiant soldier in Israel’s Givati Brigade, a devoted and loving husband, a friend to all, and a Chabad emissary to the UAE.
